The Cabildo of Lanzarote has announced the "completion of the transformation works of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports." "The completion of this intervention is great news for the sport of sailing on the island, widely practiced by citizens and who will finally have a modern, dignified facility with all the necessary elements," says the president of the Corporation, Oswaldo Betancort.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote invested a total amount that amounted "up to 276,981.22 euros", and the company Marmape S.L. was in charge of carrying out the interventions.

The vice president and councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, is pleased with the "completion" of this work as it is "so demanded by the athletes of the island." "It is a project that began in 2020, when he held the Ministry of Public Works, since at that time we saw how the world of sailing demanded a transformation of the infrastructure," says the councilor, who explains that the renovation "of the changing rooms, the barquillos' stay area and the training room" has been carried out.

This work also contemplated the "elimination of asbestos roofs" to comply with current regulations, and the "adaptation of the locker area, the channeling of rainwater, the adaptation of the windsurfing material area and the legalization of the electrical installation."

"In the coming days, the clubs will be able to start putting the barquillos in the remodeled CID Náuticos, coinciding also with the beginning of the school calendar and, therefore, with the beginning of the sports schools," says the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote is working on the "drafting of the project for the second phase of transformation of the CID Náuticos", a "minor" intervention that will be based on the reform of the exterior floor and modernization of the exterior.

The project 'Improvement of the facilities of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports' is co-financed by the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN), within the 'Plan for improvement and development of infrastructures for tourist-sports programs'.
