Yonathan de León Machín, Oswaldo Betancort and Jacobo Medina, visited this Wednesday the works that "are transforming in an integral way" the Tenderete street, between the section between Víctor Hugo street and Avenida de Los Geranios, in the Argana Alta neighborhood, in the capital of Lanzarote.
Specifically, the current works are based on the asphalt of the road after the expansion of the sidewalks to an average width of 2.5 meters. In addition, once the asphalt work is finished, speed bumps will be placed on the road. The works are being carried out by the company Lanzagrava, which was awarded the contract for an amount of 1,280,279.68 euros, the City Council reports.
"We are verifying the good pace of these works demanded by the residents of Argana Alta, the most populated neighborhood of Arrecife, and that will improve one of the main arteries of the city, transforming the current space into a safer one, with trees and vegetation, and accessible for pedestrians", remarks Yonathan de León.
"The Argana Alta neighborhood was asking for a comprehensive reform, and thanks to this action both vehicles and pedestrians will be able to circulate through one of the main arteries of the capital", Oswaldo Betancort. Likewise, the vice president and councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, celebrates the progress of the work and that it is close "to the completion of the first phase". "The interventions are nearing completion in the connection of Víctor Hugo and Iguazú streets, and will soon begin with the road that connects with the Titerrroy neighborhood", he adds.
The mayor reminds the residents that these works contemplate "the installation of a new irrigation and rainwater network", as well as underground ducts for low-voltage public lighting and telecommunications". Yonathan de León points out that the City Council's objective is "to carry out rainwater works in the new road interventions".
The integral transformation of this road contemplates the placement of tree pits with jacaranda trees between Iguazú and Víctor Hugo streets, and in addition, a median of two meters wide will be enabled between the space between Iguazú and Avenida de Los Geranios to facilitate the pedestrian crossing of the street, landscaping its interior.
