The Tías City Council has seized this Tuesday the cleaning service carried out by the company Salimpa, in an Urgent Extraordinary Plenary Session with that single point on the agenda. This was made possible with the vote in favor of the City Council's government group, the abstention of the PIL and the vote against of the PP. From now on, the owners of the company "have 10 business days, 15 calendar days, to present allegations or solve the problem", reports the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra.
In addition, "two auditors have been appointed, two City Council officials, so that in the event that the company does not solve the problem, they will take care of the management".
Pending the strike
These measures are part of the City Council's attempt to avoid the strike scheduled for December 6 announced by the works council, representing the workers of the company that manages garbage collection, beach cleaning, daily cleaning, garden maintenance and the maintenance of the Tías school in the municipality.
The company owes two salaries to the employees, so the workers decided to call a strike that not only affected Salimpa, but also Rinsa, owned by the same owner, and which is responsible for cleaning the rest of the schools in Tías.
However, the City Council has not extended the seizure measure to this second company. "We will see what happens in the next few days, since we are also trying to resolve it through other measures. It remains to be seen whether this is a reason for the strike not to be stopped," said the mayor, José Juan Cruz Saavedra.
