The new schedule for the employees of the Tías City Council, who until now worked between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., will provisionally change to 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. starting this Wednesday. Similarly, the rest of the staff with a different general schedule will also extend their workday by half an hour.
The measure is adopted to comply with the current regulations that establish a 37 and a half hour week for public administration workers. The final schedule will be established after the meeting of the General Negotiation Table, made up of representatives of the workers and the government group of the Consortium, scheduled for next Monday, January 23. According to the regulations, holding this table is essential to approve this type of measure.
In this way, the application in the Tías City Council of the agreement reached on January 9 between the seven municipalities of the island and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, which included the opening of these institutions on Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., is provisionally suspended. This is the second city council that decides, at least for now, not to open in the afternoons after Tinajo, which has also decided to open the institution half an hour more a day.
Thus, despite the fact that this measure was agreed upon at a meeting in San Bartolomé, no city council has yet complied with it. Many consistories and even the Cabildo must still hold this General Negotiation Table to decide how to extend the working hours of public administration employees.
