Knowing the social and health situation of La Graciosa is the objective that will lead the Councilor for Social Services of Teguise, Lourdes Cabrera, to move to the eighth island next week, where she is studying opening an office in the future. This is what the councilor has told her counterpart in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Joaquín Caraballo, since the intention is that the facilities could be shared by personnel from both institutions.
Lourdes Cabrera, who has just assumed her position as councilor, has also conveyed to the Minister of Social Services her intention to carry out several projects in collaboration with the Cabildo of Lanzarote, including some that may require the transfer of land and/or personnel by the first island institution.
According to the councilor, Joaquín Caraballo was "very receptive to the proposals" and they arranged a new meeting soon with the presence of the Insular Employment Coordinator, in order to receive advice to encourage job creation
in Teguise, since the socialist councilor assures that it is one of her priorities.
The meeting held this Friday is the first contact between both positions and, over a little more than two hours, they also discussed other issues related to social services. In the meeting, Caraballo informed the councilor about the diagnosis that the Cabildo is about to finalize on the functioning of social services throughout the island, what services are provided, what services are demanded and how they are managed.
Likewise, the councilor communicated that the agreements that have been signed with the Cabildo of a multi-year nature have expired, with the intention of renewing them in the next 15 days. Among the agreements to be renewed are the Agreement for economic provision, the Agreement for the Comprehensive Plan for Minors in the Canary Islands and the Comprehensive Plan for Minors and the Family in Lanzarote.
