The stalls and attractions of the Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios festivities in Yaiza suffered a labor inspection this Tuesday. "We have an open instruction and we will have to wait until it concludes to see if they incur sanctions or not," they point out from the Labor Inspection.
The inspectors appeared at the fair in the southern municipality following a complaint from an individual, to request the owners of the different attractions and stalls for the documentation corresponding to the work they are carrying out.
"The fact that there are more limited jobs in time does not mean that they do not have to be registered with Social Security. They have to do so if they carry out their work on a regular basis, although if they only do it for three days, it would have to be seen if legally they would have to register as self-employed. But normally, these people go from one place to another. And then there are the relatives, who are usually working and must also be registered as employees," they add from the Labor Inspection, from where they explain that "before, there was not so much action in these sectors, but now there is."
In any case, both from the Yaiza City Council and from the Labor Inspection they assure that the fair "remained open" and that, in no case, has there been "any order to stop it." "We can only close a company when there is a very high level of risk, in terms of safety and hygiene," they specify from the Labor Inspection.
The Los Dolores festivities will begin next week in Mancha Blanca, but the mayor of Tinajo is not worried that the Labor Inspection may also appear there. "We already knew it could happen. We have already taken the measure to comply with the law and they have been asked to have insurance and they have already registered," Jesús Machín said in this regard.
