Alternativa Ciudadana has provided the media with the letter that the now former municipal secretary of Arrecife, Asenet Padrón, sent to the mayor, Cándido Reguera, denouncing that both he and the deputy mayor, José Montelongo, and the councilor of Human Resources, Nayra Callero, entered her office "in search of documentation". In this letter, the secretary relates what, in her opinion, is a "very serious and unprecedented event".

"On December 29, 2011, in my absence and without my consent, the mayor, the councilor of Finance, the councilor of Human Resources and the lawyer Federico Toledo entered my office in search of documentation related to a judicial file, which is under my custody and responsibility, especially when it is subject to investigation by the Prosecutor's Office, as you know," she points out in her letter, sent to the mayor, Cándido Reguera.

The municipal secretary explains in this document that "immediately afterwards and after having in their possession the two judicial files, they proceeded to enter my office again, remaining in it behind closed doors". "To date, I have not been given any explanation in this regard," indicates Asenet Padrón in this letter, which was registered in the City Council on December 31, 2011.

After the visit of these three politicians and the lawyer, the municipal secretary stated that "documents that were in those files were missing". "These documents were at that time of my exclusive responsibility and custody, without forgetting that this documentation was already in the Prosecutor's Office after having been requested on December 23, 2011," Padrón points out.

In this letter addressed to the mayor of the Corporation and the two councilors, the municipal secretary requested that "the documents missing from the file be returned to the Secretariat immediately by whoever corresponds". "I reserve the legal actions that may arise from these events", Padrón warns in this letter.

"The truth about the dismissal of the secretary"

Alternativa Ciudadana has decided to send this letter to the media to state "the truth" of the dismissal of the municipal secretary. "We cannot allow a complaint of such magnitude and gravity, to be silenced without the political leaders of the Arrecife City Council giving the slightest explanation," Alternativa said in a statement.

After learning the version of Asenet Padrón, Alternativa "doubts the official truth" that the dismissal of the secretary is only related to a simple reorganization of the municipal staff, as defended by Reguera.
