The PSOE rejects CC's accusations about Sosa and denounces it as a "revenge operation"

"It is embarrassing to see the top leadership of Coalición asking for the resignation of Loli Corujo while having next to them a person who admitted to having paid for his chalet with black money," added the PSOE

The insular deputy secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, Ariagona González, has shown her "most absolute rejection of the falsehoods spread by Coalición Canaria in the press conference held this Friday to announce the claim made by the Government of the Canary Islands to Juan Manuel Sosa and demand the resignation of the insular secretary of the PSOE, Loli Corujo.

González explained that "throughout the past legislature, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote maintained a controversy over which administration had to be responsible for paying the salary of the councilor, given his status as a civil servant of the Autonomous Community."

"In no case did the legal reports handled by both administrations question Juan Manuel Sosa's right to receive his salary as a civil servant from the public administration; the discussion always focused on which administration had to be responsible for paying it, as was explained in the Parliament of the Canary Islands," González explained.

According to the socialist leader, "the claim that the Government of the Canary Islands is now making through the Canarian Health Service is flawed, as the background of the file has been hidden from the Advisory Council, which is why the Council did not have access to the reports submitted at the time by the Cabildo."

González explained that "the concealment of this documentation has caused the Advisory Council to focus exclusively on certain aspects of the file, trying to argue that Sosa never communicated his resignation as spokesperson for Coalición Canaria, when the truth is that he communicated in writing his change of situation due to having joined the Government Group."

For the deputy secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, "there is no Sosa case. What there is is a revenge operation by Coalición Canaria and a twisted use of the institutions that is now being used as a smokescreen to try to divert attention from the real failure that the government of Oswaldo Betancort is proving to be, unable to respond to the serious problems that Lanzarote is suffering."

"Coalición Canaria needs to divert attention because while the pipes of our island are filled with air and our fields dry up, Oswaldo Betancort goes on a paid vacation to Texas," González explained.

Finally, they state that "it is embarrassing to see the top leadership of Coalición asking for the resignation of Loli Corujo while having next to them a person who admitted to having paid for his chalet with black money," González concluded.
