The Socialist Municipal Group in the Tinajo City Council will defend a motion in the plenary session to be held this Wednesday, urging the governing group to immediately improve the working and safety conditions of municipal service personnel, in light of the "serious deficiencies detected in the facilities on Malagueña street".
Socialist councilwoman Begoña Hernández explained that "after personally checking the state of these facilities and collecting staff complaints, we understand that the situation cannot continue for another day."
According to the motion, municipal facilities have problems with unsanitary conditions, lack of maintenance, absence of changing rooms and separate bathrooms for men and women, lack of individual lockers, and deficiencies in the supply of work clothes and personal protective equipment (PPE), thus failing to comply with basic occupational risk prevention regulations.
"Basic labor rights and minimum conditions of dignity are being violated for male and female workers who perform essential functions for the municipality," stated Begoña Hernández, recalling that the City Council has the legal obligation to guarantee the safety and health of its personnel at all timesFrom the PSOE of Tinajo, they warn that "this situation not only affects the well-being of municipal staff, but also exposes the institution to possible legal liabilities and sanctions for non-compliance with current regulations."
The socialist motion proposes, among other measures, the urgent carrying out of a technical inspection of the facilities, the allocation of a budget item for their comprehensive renovation, and the implementation of a stable system to guarantee the periodic supply of uniforms and protective equipment
"What we are asking for is something basic: dignified and safe workspaces. We are not talking about privileges, but about fundamental rights for those who care for our municipality on a daily basis," the socialist councilwoman concluded
