The PSOE of Lanzarote has launched a counseling and accompaniment service aimed at informing and guiding migrant people regarding the regularization process for people of foreign origin promoted by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, with the aim of facilitating access to information, resolving doubts, and providing support.
The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote and deputy in Congress, María Dolores Corujo, has stressed that this measure responds to a clear political and ethical conviction: “against the hatred, the targeting and the dehumanization that the far-right fuels, the PSOE places itself, once again, on the right side of history: that of dignity, that of human rights and that of justice”.
Corujo has defended that “no society can advance from the rejection of the different nor from the criminalization of those who only seek an opportunity to live and work with dignity. Regularizing is ordering, protecting rights, combating labor exploitation and strengthening coexistence”.
In this regard, he/she has pointed out that the new advisory service is born to offer closeness, security, and support to people who can avail themselves of this process: “we want no one to be left behind due to lack of information or fear. There are many people who have been living among us for years, working, contributing, and being part of this land, and they deserve politics to be up to the task”.
Corujo has also insisted that Lanzarote cannot remain on the sidelines of a debate that directly challenges democratic values: “when some try to sow hatred and pit some against others, we respond with humanity, with responsibility and with useful politics. Defending the rights of migrant people is not only a legal or administrative matter; it is a matter of principles.”
