The PSOE of Arrecife reproaches the complicit silence of CC and the PP before the "outrage of the Government of the Canary Islands to 36 families of the municipality"

Mendoza: "It is clear that for the Popular Party and the Canarian Coalition, education, like healthcare, is nothing more than a business and they have chosen to side with the employers before the people."

The socialist spokesperson in the Arrecife City Council, Alfredo Mendoza, has reproached the "complicit silence" of the Canarian Coalition and the Popular Party in the face of the abuse by the Government of the Canary Islands of 36 families in the municipality, who have seen how the start of the Infant Education classes from zero to three years old has been suspended in the CEIP Adolfo Topham and Nieves Toledo.

Mendoza recalled that, after years of neglect of infant education, it was the government of Ángel Víctor Torres, with the Lanzarote native Manuela Armas as Minister of Education, who began with the implementation of infant education courses in the zero to three year range.

"Last year 18 places were created and this year another 36 had to come into operation," explained Mendoza, who recalled that the works were tendered and awarded with sufficient time.

"These are works that take place during the summer, so as not to harm the teaching activity and it is only small adjustments so they should be completed for the start of the course," said Mendoza, stressing that, in case of delays, "it will always be preferable for families that the course starts a few weeks later rather than diverting them to private education that, in addition, does not offer enough places."

For Mendoza, "It is clear that for the Popular Party and the Canarian Coalition, education, like healthcare, is nothing more than a business and they have chosen to side with the employers before the people."

"What is truly regrettable is that Jonathan de León and Echedey Eugenio do not dare to raise their voices against this authentic outrage. From the PSOE we extend our hand to them to convene an Extraordinary Plenary in which to unanimously demand from the Government of the Canary Islands the commissioning of those classrooms," he concluded.
