The councilor and spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Benjamín Perdomo, has accused the President of "acting negligently and irresponsibly." "We do not know if Oswaldo Betancort has ignored the demands of the carnival groups to end what was put in place by the PSOE or if he really did not know how fundamental this support was for a fundamental sector in our popular culture, which is even more serious," Perdomo pointed out.

"After making thorny accusations against the PSOE for granting this sponsorship, he ends up rectifying and giving us the reason. The sad and regrettable thing is that the carnival groups have been harmed by the President's improvisation and strangled until they obtained the aid a week before the contest," added Perdomo.
"From the Socialist Group we continue to regret that the President has decided in an interested way to eliminate the cultural million euros and we will continue to insist on the suitability of a measure that made part of the tourist benefits of the island directly impact the society of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and Oswaldo Betancort has only begun to give us the reason," he concluded.
