The Conecta Canarias-Europa Conferences celebrated their second meeting this Wednesday in the Parliament of the Canary Islands. During this second edition, dedicated to learning in depth about the challenges and challenges of the primary sector, it has hosted presentations by experts such as Pedro Luis Rodríguez, economist and technician of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands, who has spoken about circularity in the primary sector.

After him, the General Director of Health of Agri-food Production and Animal Welfare of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Spain, Valentín Almansa de Lara, spoke online with a talk on border inspection and mirror clauses.

During the first part of the day, the labor situation in the primary sector and its specificities were also discussed with the technical director of Coagrisan, the Agricultural Cooperative of San Nicolás.

The second part was led by the figure of women in the sector with the testimonies of professional fisherwoman and boat owner Carmen Soto Barreta, in an interview by journalist Estíbaliz Pérez, which gave way to a two-way meeting on the legacy of the field, with Ana María Gil Vega and her daughter, Belén Mendoza Gil. Cattle ranchers, artisan cheese makers and fourth generation of one of the last families that practice transhumance in the islands.

The final touch of the Conecta Canarias-Europa Conferences dedicated to the challenges and challenges of the primary sector was the panel discussion with the representatives of the Parliamentary Groups, with the intervention of the deputies Juan Manuel García Casañas, Francisco Linares, Manuel Fumero, Luis Campos, Jesús Ramos and Raúl Acosta.
