The president of the PP of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Astrid Pérez, has announced the presentation of motions in the Cabildo and in the Town Halls with the aim of supporting those who wish to start a business in the primary sector, especially young people, and simplify the administrative procedures that today are a real labyrinth.

The motion, which has already been presented as a matter of urgency in the Cabildo for debate in the plenary session this coming Friday, proposes the creation of a 'Single Window' for the Primary Sector, a centralized point of information, advice and support for all people who wish to start agricultural, livestock or fishing activities in Lanzarote or La Graciosa.

“Today, any young person who wants to dedicate themselves to the countryside encounters a bureaucratic wall that is impossible to overcome without help”, denounced the president of the PP of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez.

“It is urgent that the institutions side with those who want to work and start a business in the primary sector. We cannot allow bureaucracy to be an obstacle to the future of our agriculture, livestock or fishing”.

Coordination, clarity and support to start a business

In addition to the Single Window, the PP motion raises the need to establish an Institutional Coordination Protocol between the Cabildo, town councils and the Government of the Canary Islands, which clearly sequences the administrative steps and reduces duplication.

It also proposes the creation of an Island Program for Incorporation into the Primary Sector, with financial aid, training and dissemination campaigns, especially among young people.

Likewise, the Popular Group demands that the regional government simplify the procedures for accessing productive rural land and the registration of farms, always in balance with environmental sustainability and landscape protection.

“Our commitment is clear: to make life easier for those who want to work the land, dedicate themselves to livestock or go out to work”, stressed Astrid Pérez. “Lanzarote cannot continue to lose farms, cultivated land and opportunities for economic diversification due to an administration that does not support it”.

PP commitment in all institutions

The initiative will be presented not only in the Cabildo, but also in the town councils where the Popular Party has representation. With this, the PP reiterates its commitment to the sustainable development of the primary sector and to the need for all administrations to work in a coordinated manner to guarantee generational replacement and preserve the island's food sovereignty.
