The PP of Tías, regarding the Masdache antenna: "If there is a tower, it is because the Mayor wanted it"

The Popular Party assures that "José Juan Cruz was the one who ceded the land and authorized it, neither is the Cabildo responsible for anything, nor does the state Telecommunications regulations require this type of equipment to be installed"

The president of the PP of Tias and councilor in the City Council, Francisco Aparicio, considers "regrettable the contradictory, if not deceitful, statements that Mayor José Juan Cruz is making in the media to justify what has been his own decision: the granting of public land for 20 years for the installation of a tower of more than 25 meters in an area of special scenic value and against the will of the residents."

The PP is clear: no General Plan, no PIOL, no Cabildo, no Telecommunications Law. "The responsibility for the tower being there lies exclusively with the mayor, who ceded the land and authorized it. There is no more to it," says Francisco Aparicio emphatically, who recalls that "neither is the Cabildo responsible for anything, nor does the state Telecommunications regulations require this type of equipment to be installed."

"It is true that the law requires guaranteeing mobile phone coverage, but it does not impose how to do it," Aparicio clarifies. "Fortunately, nowadays there are many alternative systems that allow fulfilling this objective in small towns, isolated areas, or under environmental or landscape protection figures, and that unfortunately the socialist government has not wanted to explore," he points out.

The Popular Party rejects the installation of the antenna and believes that "this is a problem that the government group itself has created, no matter how much it now wants to pass the buck." "This is yet another example of the policy that the mayor has accustomed us to, based on lies and contradictions. On the one hand, he is strongly opposed to the installation of solar panels in Macher, while the residents of Masdache are being saddled with a 25-meter monstrosity and are practically being singled out as the culprits for demanding mobile telephony," denounces the PP councilor.
