The Popular Party of San Bartolomé has presented to the municipal plenary session this Tuesday a motion for the City Council to promote the installation of fiber optics in El Islote, the only town in the municipality that currently does not have this service.
"The problem of connectivity is precisely one of the deficiencies highlighted by the residents, since currently not having data speed becomes a major inconvenience when carrying out any procedure online," say the popular representatives.
“Every day more procedures are carried out online, so fiber optics has practically become an essential service,” adds the president of the Local Committee of San Bartolomé, Jeziel Martín.
The popular representatives believe that the City Council should make an effort “to ensure that all residents of the municipality have high speed in their homes”. “It is urgent that the government carry out the appropriate procedures and steps with Telefónica, or the operator that is considered, to make fiber in El Islote a reality within the present mandate,” insists Martín.
“We believe that it is time for the municipal government to prioritize and set as an objective to complete one hundred percent of the towns with high-speed fiber optics, thus fulfilling the universal right that all consumers have to have a minimum of telephone and internet connection that, unfortunately, is not always enough to operate with agility,” highlights Jeziel Martin.
