The island president and parliamentarian of the Popular Party, Astrid Pérez, has urged the PSOE-PIL government in the Arrecife City Council to "get its act together" in order not to lose the financing planned by the Government of the Canary Islands for the execution of public housing in the capital. Pérez believes that "it is about time that the socialist mayor complies and does her homework regarding the segregation and transfer of land to the Canarian Housing Institute because, otherwise," she warns that "Arrecife will lose the opportunity it was waiting for to correct the serious deficit of social housing that has been historically dragging on."
During the last plenary session, Pérez insisted that the deadline given by the regional Executive sets the next month of May as the limit to carry out these procedures "without which it is impossible to advance in the project that initially foresees the construction of some 200 homes in the Maneje neighborhood." "After 30 years in which the Government of the Canary Islands has not executed a single promotion of official protection in Lanzarote and with the problem that exists due to the shortage of housing, it would be shameless and of extreme gravity that the government of Arrecife would let more than three million euros escape due to its negligent management," says the president of the popular ones.
Pérez believes that "that possibility and fear exists taking into account the background" and alludes to the 500,000 euros for the Argana Health Center that the Popular Party managed to incorporate into the budgets of last year" and that were lost because the socialist mayor was unable to materialize the transfer of the land." "Just as we insisted then, we insist now: it is essential that the City Council speed up the processing as much as possible and just as we did at the time, we extend a hand to the government group to collaborate and continue betting on issues that are important for Arrecife," she points out.
Ástrid Pérez concludes by highlighting "the importance of this project for the city taking into account the inaction and neglect in which the municipal government has moved in this matter, because they have not been able to spend a single euro of the money budgeted last year for the acquisition of social housing."
