"Finally, the worst forecasts have been fulfilled and the current minority government of the PSOE and the PIL have reached their limit in their inability to lead the Arrecife City Council." This is how forceful the president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote and councilor in the City Council, Astrid Pérez, has been, who affirms that the Consistory has definitively lost the 3.4 million euros budgeted by the Government of the Canary Islands for 2018 in order to start the construction project of social housing in the capital.
Pérez does not hide "the impotence and indignation of her party", which recalls that "since last year she has been insisting and urging the mayor Eva de Anta to comply with the prior procedure of land transfer". "A procedure that the PSOE has been delaying for no reason until it reaches the point that it is already impossible for the Government of the Canary Islands to have the material time to draft the project and tender it," she points out.
"The damage that the PSOE has done to the residents of Arrecife is irreparable and we wonder how far the Socialist Party is willing to go in the endless list of punishments that it has been inflicting on the citizens of Arrecife throughout this term," says Astrid Pérez.
The president of the Popular Party emphasizes that "the City Council should have started the file more than eight months ago without having complied with it until now." "The only urgency that the PSOE seems to have is to cover up the greatest incompetence that has ever been seen in a municipal government, as it is no longer able to deceive anyone regarding its inability to carry out an ordinary procedure such as a simple land transfer," she considers.
Cs, Podemos and Somos, "co-authors of the negligence" of PSOE and PIL
Ástrid Pérez has once again insisted that "the responsibility for what is happening in Arrecife also lies with Ciudadanos, Podemos and Somos, who refuse a change of government and have ended up becoming co-authors of the negligence that the PSOE and PIL commit in the first person."
"You cannot be talking about social policies and helping the most disadvantaged and then allow the PSOE to continue leading a government that tramples on the needs of the citizens of Arrecife," concludes the leader of the PP.
