The port of Arrecife has been awarded at Seatrade Cruises, the most important fair in the world that is held this week in Miami, by the international magazine of the sector Dream World Cruise Destinations. The Port of La Luz, in Las Palmas, has also been awarded.
Specifically, the port of Arrecife was awarded as the Best Destination for an Independent Cruiser Experience of 2010, given the facilities offered by the Island to make its own visit and have an independent experience of it, according to what the cruiser decides upon arriving in Arrecife. The Lanzarote port competed for this award with six more finalists: Copenhagen, Honolulu, the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent, Monte Carlo, Valletta (Malta) and San Juan de Puerto Rico.
On the other hand, the port of Las Palmas was distinguished by Dream World Cruise Destinations as the port with the best connection, transport offers, hotels, baggage handling and tourist level in the Best Turnaround Port Operations 2010 category. The Port of La Luz competed with six finalists: Barbados, Dubai, Fort Lauderdale, Montreal, Johannesburg and Vancouver.
The Port Authority of Las Palmas participates in the Seatrade of Miami with the Cruises in the Atlantic Islands stand, together with the port authorities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Madeira.
