The People's Party of Lanzarote and La Graciosa urgently calls for the imminent convening of general elections following the rejection of the two housing decrees this Friday.

The president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, María Jesús Tovar, assures that this situation "is completely unsustainable". "Pedro Sánchez cannot remain at the head of the country for one more minute. The legislature is over," she adds.

Tovar maintains that Congress's refusal of the two housing decrees demonstrated, once again, that the PSOE does not have a sufficient majority to govern. "Sánchez has been surviving for years thanks to innumerable concessions to Catalans and Basques, actions that have harmed all Spaniards and that had a single objective: to remain in Moncloa," she explains.

Regarding the two housing decrees, Tovar justifies the People's Party's vote against them "as it will not be a participant in Sánchez's new whims while the housing problem worsens". "We see how Mari Carmen's drama has been the trigger for these two decrees which, as a whole, are incongruous because one annuls the other. They are decrees that did nothing but mock Spaniards once again," adds Tovar, who also points out that the country has gone four years without General State Budgets, "which causes a real disaster for Lanzarote and La Graciosa."

"The People's Party does have a package of real and solvent measures for housing, which not only benefit those looking for a home and see prices soaring; but also provide security to the owner who is often unprotected by the law," concludes the president.
