The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, reported to the Plenary the judicial resolution that rejected as "undue" the attempt by lawyer Ignacio Calatayud to collect 82,000 euros from Inalsa, explaining that the aforementioned resolution has become final "due to the absence of an appeal by San Ginés' lawyer-friend".
Calatayud's claim, through the figure known as Bill of Costs, occurred as a result of the president's refusal to sign a proposed agreement, provided by the lawyer, which established that the costs of the procedure would be paid to him by the opposing party.
Corujo recalled in her speech that there were "multiple statements by Pedro San Ginés defending Calatayud's attempt to collect, even predicting that the Cabildo would have to pay that fee, for not allowing the lawyer to appropriate the costs." "It is another thing we should thank the president for," they recall that he "dared to point out".
"That is indeed an attempt at undue collection, councilors. Those who have been filling their mouths these months accusing a councilor of collecting unduly, have covered up Calatayud's attempt to collect, now yes, unduly, and the courts say so, 82,000 euros," Corujo reproached. "Those who have attacked a councilor with unbearable ferocity, trying to break his will based on false accusations, continue to justify Calatayud's undue collections for almost a million euros, something that we will also prove in the courts," added the president.
"At this point, it's time for Coalición Canaria and Pedro San Ginés to acknowledge their mistake in siding with Calatayud in the Bill of Costs procedure," Corujo has also demanded, who has insisted that "out of decency, out of respect for this plenary, out of respect for the citizens, apologies are now due." "Sadly, it won't be like that. I am left with the satisfaction of having prevented Calatayud's undue collection," the president concluded.
