The new Island Executive Committee of the PSOE of Lanzarote held its first meeting this Saturday under the direction of the island secretary, María Dolores Corujo, after being elected at the 10th Island Congress last weekend.

This first session of the island leadership of the Socialist Party in Lanzarote was aimed at establishing the executive and launching the different area secretariats that, over the next few weeks, will present their action plans for this mandate with the aim of promoting the party's presence and reactivating organic life, after the forced stoppage imposed by the covid-19 pandemic.

Among the issues discussed, the island executive agreed that the general secretary and the organization secretary will coordinate with the groups the prompt holding of local assemblies that will renew all local leaderships over the next few weeks.

"Now it is time to culminate the renovation process initiated with the federal, regional and island congresses to put the party in a position to repeat, and even improve, the excellent results of the previous electoral cycle," Corujo said.

The socialist leader explained that one of the fundamental challenges of this new stage is to "recover the memory, proudly remember the role that the PSOE and its people have played in the recent history of Lanzarote and its commitment to the fight against development and corruption."

In that sense, Corujo announced that in the coming months there will be different meetings in which there will also be the presence of different people who, without being militants, have played a key role over these years.

"Both the governing bodies and the militancy must assume as their own the legacy we have received and for this we have to remember our own history and reject the story that our adversaries and their media allies have tried to impose in recent years.".

Finally, the general secretary made a call to "support the institutional declaration of the FEMP condemning the aggression of the Russian Federation to Ukraine that was unanimously supported, also agreeing to raise it to the plenary of all the institutions of Lanzarote".
