The Arrecife City Council has announced that citizens will be able to enjoy the Reducto pedestrian zone before the San Juan festival, on June 24th. In addition, during the final week of May, work is being carried out to pave the new section of the bike lane that runs along the seafront of the capital of Lanzarote, next to the beach.
The mayor has reported that, according to the established planning, the works will be completed "before the summer." The beginning of these works started at the end of August last year, after the celebration of the San Ginés festivities. The mayor has recalled that this planning was established to "minimize the inconvenience to residents, tourist and hotel establishments", which have one of the epicenters of leisure in the capital in the El Reducto area.
Yonathan de León has detailed that the works to complete the new bike lane in front of El Reducto beach, in the section between Avenida Mancomunidad and Calle Guenia, are being carried out by the company awarded the urban transformation of the Arrecife seafront, in a section of Avenida Fred Olsen, between Valls de la Torre and Guenia streets. From now on, this entire area "will be pedestrianized", they have recalled. The buildings on the promenade all have access to the garages through El Greco street, a parallel to Avenida Fred Olsen, which has recently been transformed, within the global project of transformation and modernization of the urban image of Arrecife.
The Arrecife City Council will provide "new street furniture" to this promenade, which will be installed "throughout the summer." The construction company, as the mayor has been able to verify, has installed the new night lighting, with the colors of corten steel, like the Parque Islas Canarias, planted more trees throughout the promenade, and will conclude in these coming weeks of June the finishing touches on the paving and the connections with the new stairways, which will allow citizens and visitors to enjoy the beach and the Arrecife marina without barriers or walls.
