The new health center of Costa Teguise, whose construction began in April 2018, has already opened its doors. As confirmed by the director of the Lanzarote Health Area, Noelia Umpiérrez, the clinic became operational last Monday.
As Umpiérrez explained, the Government of the Canary Islands has not publicly announced its opening because "there were pending issues" that, in fact, she pointed out are still to be resolved, such as the entrance of ambulances. And it is that right at the entrance to the clinic, there is a school bus stop.
Thus, the director of the Lanzarote Health Area has explained that the Ministry of Health has asked the Teguise City Council to move the stop to guarantee the entrance of ambulances to the health center, an issue on which she has stated that no response has yet been received from the City Council.
However, Noelia Umpiérrez has stated that since last week users were already informed of the opening of the new health center and has expressed her confidence that the issue of ambulance access will be resolved shortly.
The works were awarded for 1.1 million
The new Costa Teguise health center is located on a plot of 1,372 square meters near the old local clinic, which was ceded by the City Council to the Government of the Canary Islands.
The project, which was awarded for 1.1 million euros, contemplated the construction of a one-story building, of 503 square meters, with reception and administration areas, two pediatric care offices with waiting room, toilet and lactation room, four adult care offices with waiting rooms and toilets, an emergency and multipurpose area, a meeting room and support areas, technical areas and those intended for center staff.
