The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra (PSOE), has responded to the complaint filed with the Prosecutor's Office by the municipal group of the PP, stating that the Popular Party is making "a malicious and irresponsible interpretation of the behavior of the government group."

The complaint arises from the signing of an urban planning agreement, outside the General Plan, and the granting of a license to a company to build a building with parking in Libertad Street, in the town of Tías, despite having negative technical reports. Specifically, the Popular Party showed a report from the municipal architect, opposing the granting of the license.

In response to this, the mayor assures that "the PP only shows the reports that interest them" and affirms that the agreement and the license did have a positive legal report at the time of their granting, and that it was when the license expired and the company requested its renewal that the reports from the Intervention and Secretariat raised objections to the administrative act. He also points out that these objections were taken to a plenary session and that the government group has not granted the renewal of the license.

However, the mayor has not specified what these objections raised by the auditor are to reject the extension of the license, nor has he clarified what has changed since it was granted until now so that the work is currently not allowed to continue.

Real Estate Scams

In a press release, Cruz Saavedra states that the PP, "in its intention to criminalize municipal management, goes to the Prosecutor's Office knowing that the procedure it alleges does not conform to reality with the sole purpose of hindering municipal work and gaining prominence in a stage in which it has abandoned all opposition work to focus on a motion of censure that does not prosper due to the distrust it arouses in the other parties that make up the corporation."

The mayor reproaches the PP for dedicating itself to "calling real estate scams what it knows perfectly well sought the general interest, guaranteeing a public square and parking in the downtown area of the town that has a significant lack of these facilities."

José Juan Cruz Saavedra assures that "he does not mind that the PP brings the management of the government group to the attention of the prosecutor, the judge, or the Pope because he knows the cleanliness and rigor with which they work, but he is concerned that any trick is used to prevent problems from being solved and to get a few votes, even at the expense of the well-being of the residents."

Swimming Pool

In addition, the mayor highlights that the PP "did not give a press conference to report on its complaint to the prosecutor's office but went to this judicial body to be able to give a press conference after months of total inaction," and that it did so on the same day that the inclusion of the construction of the municipal swimming pool in the State Fund was approved, "with the intention of covering up the information."
