FITUR brings the creation of four boulevards closer to Costa Teguise. The City Council is trying to secure funding for their creation. This project to launch new spaces is already designed and is part of the Costa Teguise Rehabilitation Plan carried out by G.M.M. Consultores Turísticos for the Government of the Canary Islands.
The Tourism Councilor of the Teguise City Council, Noelia Umpiérrez, who is at the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (Fitur), assures that various meetings are being held these days with the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Environment, and the Government of the Canary Islands to achieve commitments that ensure the funding of this initiative and states that they are "very satisfied with the results of the contacts, despite the fact that the proposal has a cost of 8.4 million euros."
The councilor points out that there is even a meeting scheduled for February 14th, at 09:00 hours in the Palacio Spínola in Teguise, with the director of the G.M.M. Consultores Turísticos plan, Gregorio Méndez, several businessmen from Costa Teguise, and the Teguise City Council to further specify the planning. "The objective is that when the funds arrive, the project is fully agreed upon, because it benefits the entire town and can begin to be built without delay," Umpiérrez adds.
The project
The proposal consists of creating four corridors perpendicular to the sea, from the interior to the coast, which come to unite Costa Teguise, since some parts of the town are a bit scattered, such as the area of the Hotel Beatriz or the Hotel Occidental Oasis, among others.
Four boulevards that are already designed would be built: the sea boulevard, the wind boulevard, the flower boulevard, and the Teguise boulevard. Each will be a landscaped corridor, with trees, street furniture, and various elements that make it pleasant to walk throughout Costa Teguise and thus feed the tourist destination, while also revitalizing the residential area. The interventions, according to the City Council, are not aggressive, as most restore degraded spaces, turning them into recreational areas.
