The Cabildo of Lanzarote organized this Wednesday, September 14, a visit with 151 users of the Senior Centers of the island. They enjoyed a tour of the Sanctuary of the Church of Mancha Blanca, the Craft Fair and, finally, a lunch at the Los Dolores Restaurant for the Senior Day.
The president of the island's Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, accompanied by the Minister of Social Welfare, Isabel Martín, welcomed the senior citizens participating in "this initiative to boost one of the groups that most need this kind of activities".
"The magnificent work carried out by the staff of the Cabildo's dependent residences includes projects such as these, to bring seniors closer to the most important festivities of the Island and to provide them with transportation and access so that they can have a pleasant day," said the president.
For her part, the Minister of Social Welfare, Isabel Martín, explained that the attendees made offerings to the Virgin and were able to have a moment of prayer. Also, during the visit to the Fair, they enjoyed a traditional snack, with local products displayed in stands of the event.
"The users of the residences of the Insular Hospital, Tías and Haría, Domingo de Guzmán, San Roque de Tinajo, the Center for people with disabilities, the URPS and the Accompaniment Center for Seniors in Solitude appreciated the initiative and that encourages us to continue working to improve the quality of life of our seniors with projects like this," said Martín.
