The Insular Library of Lanzarote, a center dependent on the Education area of the Cabildo coordinated by Councilor Paula Corujo, is reopening all its services to the public during its usual hours, although maintaining certain restrictions to prevent Coid-19 infections.
Among the services that are being resumed is free access to bibliographic collections, both books and magazines and audiovisual material. Likewise, the entire Library space will be accessible from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with room staff. From 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the ground floor and mezzanine spaces will be available with security personnel (this schedule may be extended until 11:00 p.m. depending on whether or not the curfew is maintained).
On weekends and holidays, the hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., attended in this case by security personnel.
A room with self-service machines for drinks and food has also been set up as a cafeteria, equipped with a microwave to heat food. The maximum stay in this room is only 20 minutes and the maximum capacity is 4 people.
Among the measures to prevent Covid-19 infections that are maintained is the limitation of capacity to 50%. Likewise, temperature taking is maintained at the entrance of the Library; disinfection points both at the entrance and in interior areas of the premises; different entry and exit routes; obligation to use the mask at all times; provision of separation screens as a preventive measure, etc.
Another of the current limitations will be the formation of working groups, which will remain prohibited.
One hour a day in the ICT Room
The Information Technology (ICT) Room will reopen from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. but, while capacity remains limited to 50%, each person may only use the positions in the ICT room for one hour a day.
In addition, each reading station in the ICT room will be disinfected ten minutes before the hour (at 50 minutes past), so they must be vacated at that time so that cleaning staff can carry out the disinfection. As indicated, the authorized entry time will be every hour on the hour but, regardless of the time each user enters, they must leave the study station at ten minutes to the hour.
