The Haría City Council proceeds with the payment of the Transportation Scholarships corresponding to the academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, reaffirming its firm commitment to education and support for the municipality's families. In total, 113 scholarships have been granted for a global amount of 76,700 euros, intended to facilitate the travel of students who must leave the municipality to continue their academic training.
The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, highlights that "these transport scholarships are a key tool to ensure that our young people can access education on equal terms, regardless of where they live." Likewise, he emphasizes that "from this governing group, we will continue to prioritize policies that support families and promote academic training as a pillar of the municipality's development."
For her part, the Councilor for Education, Evelia García, points out that "the **high percentage of approved applications** demonstrates the City Council's willingness to be close to the students and to listen to the educational needs of the municipality." She adds that "our goal is that no student from Haría has to give up their studies due to economic difficulties related to transportation."
In the 2023-2024 academic year call, the City Council paid grants to 59 students: 58 of them received an amount of 687.11 euros and one student 147.17 euros, totaling 40,000 euros. In this regard, in the 2024-2025 academic year, the scholarships have benefited 54 students, of whom 52 received 700 euros and two students 150 euros, adding up to a total of 36,700 euros.
Of the total applications submitted, 99.12% were favorably approved, which highlights the City Council's effort to attend to practically all requests and respond to the real needs of the students.
