The contentious-administrative court of the island will have to wait. The Justice Committee of the Senate rejected this Wednesday, with the votes against the PSOE, the request made by the Lanzarote senator, Loly Luzardo, requesting, together with the rest of the Popular Party, the creation of different types of courts in various parts of the country.
The Government recognizes that the creation of new courts is "more than justified" by the population increase and the increase in litigation, but subordinates them to a broad reform of the Law of Demarcation and Plants, which dates from 1988.
The Executive admits the need to bring Justice closer to citizens and gain in agility and efficiency, but considers that too many specific modifications have already been made. In this sense, the 14 revisions of the law that have been carried out in recent years are pointed out.
The senator of the Popular Party regrets that there is no "firmer commitment on the part of the Ministry" for it to assume the reform as soon as possible. In this way, the citizens of the island will have to continue "suffering this grievance with respect to the capital islands".
