The Councilor for Health of the Tías City Council and Emergency physician, Laura Callero, has tested positive for coronavirus. After learning the result, the government group has decided to enter preventive quarantine. This is the first case in the municipality, the fourth registered on our island. Pending the measures to be taken, the isolation of the councilor and those who have been in contact with her has been carried out from the first moment.

As reported by the health authorities, and following their instructions, the quarantine will be the method to follow until the results of the test of each of the members of the government are known. The government group will continue working from home remotely.

"From the government group, we ask that both our citizens and our internal staff remain calm. We are a team aware of all the risks that this case entails. That is why we wanted, since it has been possible for us, for you to know all the events."

"The main objective of our management in the face of this contact with COVID-19 is to protect citizens. Therefore, for the moment, we #stayathome. Because we have a responsibility to you, our citizens, and to society in general. As news progresses, we will keep you informed."

The quarantine of the government group will not prevent, however, "that both the mayor and the group of councilors remain fully operational, despite the difficulties." The coordination of the essential services of the City Council is guaranteed by telematic means.

"Finally, we ask you, please, to follow the recommendations of the relevant authorities. We appeal for calm and the responsibility of each one. We have to be aware that we are in a very delicate situation and that each gesture of individual action is crucial to combat these events. Thank you very much and thank you also to all the staff of the health service."
