Less than a month before the start of Carnival 2022, the Councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, Encarna Páez, assures that the events will be held at the Fairgrounds “yes or yes.” The councilor affirms that this will happen even if the autocovid is still in the area, since the Council has designed “a plan” for both services to coexist.
Encarna Páez thus rejects the PSOE's proposal to install the Carnival infrastructure on the Ginory site. “We know what we are going to do, except for what the PSOE says, we are going to do everything,” she stated this Tuesday in statements to La Voz.
“Why do I have to do what the PSOE says? I don't interfere in their business, let them not interfere in mine,” criticizes the councilor, who also adds that she is only executing “what Alfredo Mendoza had done” when he was councilor for Festivities, and points out that the socialist had proposed that “95% of the events would be at the Fairgrounds.”
Although the Cabildo has already stated that it would not move the autocovid from its current location, Páez continues to insist on requesting that it be "moved", and considers that the objections that Health has put to move that infrastructure are “a tall tale” from the PSOE.
“I'm honestly not going to play their game. The least the PSOE cares about is the autocovid, what they care about is messing around and the guerrilla warfare they have with the PP,” criticizes the Councilor for Festivities, who adds that no one can beat her “in stubbornness.” However, she also states that this situation “will not bother the health workers.”
Regarding how they intend to combine the carnival with the autocovid, she states that if they finally fail to get it moved, they would celebrate the events “in front of the current stage”, that is, where the car entrance area to the autocovid is currently located. She also points out that if necessary, they will "install another stage" in that same area, although she still believes that "it will not be necessary."
“That design is so well done that it can be combined and the cars can continue to pass through,” defends the councilor, who affirms that they would enable an area for cars to “enter and exit perfectly.” “We have a plan A, B and even Z.”
“Things are already decided, the carnivals are going to be held yes or yes. We have it designed, it's big, the autocovid fits and the carnivals fit,” concludes Páez.
