The Lanzarote Water Consortium has agreed to impose a fine of 60,000 euros on Canal Gestión due to "various breaches" of the contract. The decision was adopted at the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Consortium held last Friday, although it has only now been made public by the institution.
According to a statement, these breaches had been denounced by the Canal Works Council, the Yaiza City Council and citizens and companies. "Canal Gestión would have failed to comply with the express instructions not to neglect the personnel needs of the Janubio desalination plant, as well as the information requirements by the Consortium, the breach of the operation plan of the services and failure to comply with the Consortium's instructions to immediately reverse the transfer of personnel assigned to the Janubio desalination center and to re-assign them to it, maintaining the shift schedule prior to the unauthorized transfer," they specify from the Consortium.
During the session, chaired by María Dolores Corujo, the incorporation of the Councilor for Finance of San Bartolomé, Antonio Rocío, and Miguel Ángel Jiménez Cabrera -Councilor for Economy and Finance of Teguise- as his substitute in the Contract Monitoring Commission with Canal was also approved.
