The representatives of the Strike Committee of the Tourist Centers, who were invited to participate in the meeting of the Board of Directors this Tuesday, have presented a proposal to this body to end the strikes. As a first point, they demand that the company "agree to pay the workers" the bonuses that were not paid to them during the vacations of 2015, 2016 and 2017 "and continue in subsequent years", in order to comply with the ruling issued by the TSJC.
On this point, it should be remembered that it had already been accepted by the management of the Centers - despite disagreeing with the interpretation made by the workers - before the strike began. Thus, the stumbling block was still on another point, relating to the amount of the personal supplement received by the workers, and which they claim is miscalculated.
This fact has given rise to several lawsuits that are pending resolution. Now, what the Strike Committee is asking is that the Centers pay the amounts requested in those lawsuits and, "in the event" that the Social Courts or later the TSJC do not agree with them, they undertake to "return to the company the amount as unduly received". They also demand that the "discount of 35.19 euros per month that the company has been deducting from each worker since the month of April" be left without effect.
The proposal has been presented to the members of the Board of Directors of the CACT, who on Monday afternoon began a meeting that had not yet concluded by noon this Tuesday. On the first day, they decided to suspend it at 11 p.m., to resume it at 11 a.m. the following day, having failed to reach an agreement.
In addition, they decided to invite representatives of the Strike Committee to explain their position. After listening to the workers, the Council is working on finding an agreement to end this labor conflict. For the moment, at noon they have taken a new break for lunch, and the session will continue in the afternoon.
