The Officers' Union (UO) of the Civil Guard has described as a "harassment and demolition" maneuver the complaint filed by the Private Security Workers' Union (STSP) before the Ministry of the Interior for non-compliance with security regulations in relation to the installation of safes as gun racks in the Costa Teguise barracks and has rejected said accusation explaining that the object of the Civil Guard's coffers "is not the same as that of the boxes that Private Security must have", so those of the Benemérita "are not subject to any security degree requirement, since there is no rule that establishes it".
This complaint from the STSP has been added to the criticism initiated by the Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC) to the officer in charge of managing the reception and installation of the safes, first for alleged violation of waste regulations and, subsequently, for an alleged infringement of the patrimonial regulations of public administrations. Thus, from the UO of the Civil Guard they have described both complaints as "unfounded" and have assured that they show "a striking ignorance of the legislation and an obsessive desire to discredit the Officer at all costs." In this sense, they have explained that "in Private Security there are requirements regarding the degree of security since the purpose is that they are not subject to theft, as they remain in facilities that may not be inhabited and even, for example, be found in an industrial estate, unlike the security inherent in the facilities of the State Security Forces and Corps, which therefore allows different regimes in the application of current regulations".
"We ignore if this new obstacle responds to a particular interest or if, on the other hand, it is the result of a certain collaborative spirit between said union and the AUGC, but the reality is that the aforementioned complaint is also based on a twisted interpretation of current legislation and reflects a striking ignorance of it, since it is based on a rule in whose scope of application the State Security Forces and Corps are not found", they pointed out from the Union of Officers.
"Commendable management of the officer that should be applauded"
The Civil Guard union has also recalled that "the installation of these safes in the Costa Teguise barracks has the sole purpose of serving as gun racks for those who do not wish to take the private weapon to their homes, which responds to a commendable management by the officer that should be applauded by all those who support the provision of gun racks as a means to reduce the suicide rate".
The UO of the Civil Guard has assured that "the brilliant initiative of the officer has only served to be the target of dark maneuvers", and that they have used "any pretext, with normative interpretations that border on the ridiculous and that only show a worrying animosity towards everything that comes from the command".
"We hope that common sense returns and that we all continue working so that the provision of gun racks to all Units is a reality, instead of continuing to torpedo the exceptional work carried out by those who prefer not to wait with their arms crossed", they pointed out from the UO of the Civil Guard.
