The Arrecife City Council proceeded this Friday to demolish an abandoned house in San Francisco Javier, which had been the subject of numerous complaints from the residents of the area. According to the City Council, "the good predisposition of the owner, who authorized the capital city council to demolish it, and the constant fires and health and safety problems of the same, made the administrative process accelerate."
In this sense, both the Councilor for Urban Planning, Pedro de Armas, and the Mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, present during the demolition, together with the councilors of Works, Gabriel González and the new member of the capital Corporation, José Carmelo Santana, agreed in stating that thanks to the collaboration at all times of the owner of this property, "the municipal action could be done in a very quick and efficient way."
The first deputy mayor, Pedro de Armas, confirmed in his day that the Municipal Technical Office had opened a file dated August 26, 2010 to urge the owner of the house to take the pertinent measures, in order to guarantee the healthiness of the site and the maintenance of the house. "The City Council," said De Armas, "cannot skip the procedures and enter to demolish a house without notifying the owner, without complying with all the procedures and much less without a court order."
The house, located in an area near the Vía Medular de Arrecife, on Sorondongo street in the San Francisco Javier neighborhood, had been reported to the local police of Arrecife by the residents of the area due to the lack of healthiness and the danger of it falling to the ground.
