The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the Councilor for Citizen Security, Javier Camacho, have delivered to the Civil Protection of Yaiza the latest material acquired by the City Council to improve the equipment of the southern group and, consequently, the safety of neighbors and residents of the municipality. The investment of more than 40,000 euros includes the purchase of an all-terrain vehicle, two new 125cc motorcycles, twenty aquatic rescue devices, tools, sanitary material, equipment for volunteer training and uniforms, among other elements.

Óscar Noda also announces that the group will soon have a basic life support ambulance, more aquatic resources and an operations center in Playa Blanca, by virtue of a collaboration agreement that the City Council is finalizing with the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote.

"We have just inaugurated the Southern Fire Station and we do not cease in our efforts to improve the resources of our security and emergency bodies with the aim of increasing their response capacity and our neighbors being much calmer," says the mayor, who also positively values "the dedication and work carried out by nearly thirty Civil Protection volunteers from Yaiza coordinated by the head of the Group, Idelfonso Noda".

"Stimulates the incorporation of more personnel"

"We equip and will continue to equip Civil Protection with the resources it needs, an effort that also motivates the volunteers who are already part of the Group and stimulates the incorporation of more personnel," the mayor highlighted. In addition, the City Council reminds that Civil Protection of Yaiza "has not only reinforced its training program for volunteers and municipal personnel who, due to sports and leisure activities in general, are always with the citizens, but also promotes and develops cardiopulmonary resuscitation courses in educational centers of the municipality".

Along with the purchase of vehicles, sanitary and oxygen therapy kits, glucometers, pulse oximeters, sphygmomanometers, tools and equipment in general for Civil Protection, the City Council acquired twenty aquatic rescue devices. It is a portable, compact, lightweight and reusable life jacket to prevent drowning that Saúl de León invented in the Canary Islands.

The 'OneUp' device is launched from land or from a boat to a person who is in trouble, automatically inflating upon contact with water, deploying, in less than 2 seconds, a life jacket that can be used by children and adults. "Its utility is fantastic and we support the creation of a Canarian professional," the mayor highlights.
