The Lanzarote Water Consortium has reported a favorable resolution from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Water of the Government of the Canary Islands, by which an appeal filed by the Consortium has been upheld and access has been granted to the grant of 72,883.71 euros to reduce the cost of agricultural water.
As highlighted by the Cabildo, this order from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands resolves the optional appeal for reconsideration filed by the Lanzarote Water Consortium against resolution number 764 of March 13, 2020 of the General Directorate of Agriculture, which modifies resolution number 461 of February 6, 2020, which initially denied the request of the Lanzarote Water Consortium.
The Minister of the Presidency and head of the Consortium, Andrés Stinga, has expressed his satisfaction with this positive resolution. "The Government of the Canary Islands has been sensitive to our arguments and has given a fair response to the interests of Lanzarote”, he says.
The amount of the subsidy has been calculated based on the data justified by the Lanzarote Water Consortium, an entity that must pass on the subsidy received to the cost of water to irrigators, either by direct payment based on the water consumed from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018 or by applying a discount on the rate.
