Festival de Jazz

The center of Arrecife experienced a great summer night this Friday where good jazz filled the streets around El Almacén square. The call for the 28th edition of the Canarias Jazz & Mas Heineken International Festival achieved a full house, in its return to the capital of Lanzarote.

In last year's edition, Arrecife lost these concerts on its tour of the Canary Islands. This year, under the management of the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce of the Arrecife City Council, Armando Santana, the capital managed to recover the celebration of the Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken Festival, under the technical organization of Colorado Producciones, the sponsorship of the Arrecife City Council, and the collaboration of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

A full house in El Almacén square, and the surrounding streets of Canalejas, José Betancort and La Porra, allowed attendees to enjoy for a few hours one of the most attractive posters of recent years for the island of Lanzarote. A concert where, on the one hand, a consecrated name - a legend, a myth - such as Maceo Parker met; and on the other hand, a diamond in the rough, one of those brilliant vocalists who is making waves in the coming years: Judith Hill. This combination promised, as could be seen this Friday in the capital of Lanzarote, and achieved, musically, a unique night that made El Almacén square tremble, next to the CIC, based on good jazz, soul and funky.

Among the audience was the mayor of Arrecife, the popular Astrid Pérez, the Councilor for Commerce, Tourism and Hospitality, Armando Santana, and different councilors from the Arrecife Government group, who have among their objectives, after their recent inauguration, "to relaunch the activity of nightlife on the island with musical and cultural initiatives, among others".

For the Tourism Councilor, Armando Santana, "the success of this call reflects that the capital seeks leisure and revitalization alternatives, and the population remains in the capital, if the proposals have a level and please a majority of the public." Nightlife is part of the revitalization of a city like Arrecife, the capital of a tourist island, where nearly 50 percent of its population resides.
