Last January, the construction of the new parking lot annexed to the Molina Orosa Hospital began, which will soon become an area that will have almost 100 parking spaces, but before its availability, the Cabildo of Lanzarote has already started negotiations for the acquisition or habilitation of other plots adjacent to the health center.
“Our commitment was to respond as soon as possible to an urgent demand for the users of the hospital, but we are also aware that access to the center must improve and, therefore, we are already looking for alternatives to improve parking and access to the General Hospital of Lanzarote, both for patients, staff and suppliers who access”, declares the president.
Oswaldo Betancort, who has already visited the new parking area several times together with the vice president and head of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, assures that the construction of this new parking will largely solve one of the great demands of the citizens of the island, but will not solve all the inconveniences of accessibility and mobility, therefore, we hope to announce a new action soon.
For his part, Jacobo Medina, stresses that “we are working at full speed” so that this work, which had an investment of almost half a million euros from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), will become a reality as soon as possible for patients, including people with reduced mobility, since it includes several adapted units in the plot of 2,466 square meters adjacent to the current parking of External Consultations of the hospital.
This plot annexed to the hospital has almost 2,500 square meters, but from the Cabildo they assure that they are already working on the possibility of occupying another 3 plots of larger dimensions for this purpose.
“The decongestion of the access areas to the Dr. José Molina Orosa Hospital of Lanzarote will continue to be one of the commitments to be fulfilled in health matters by the Government group, which will ensure that this work can be materialized in a few months”, said Betancort.
