The Cabildo blames CC for the return of funds for the clean points of Haría and Tinajo

The current government group affirms that it has been "forced" to return the subsidy for these facilities, projected for more than a decade, "because the previous administration failed to agree with the town councils on which land it should be carried out"

The current government group of the Cabildo affirms that it has been "forced" to return the funds granted by the Government of the Canary Islands for the construction of Clean Points in the municipalities of Tinajo and Haría due to "the lack of land" for such purpose and has blamed CC for it.

And it is that, as explained in a statement, the project has been underway "since April 23, 2008, when land is requested from the first of the municipalities for the execution of the works". "From then until now, the previous administration failed to agree with the councils on which land the construction of the clean points should be carried out", the Cabildo points out.

"This lack of agreement meant that the deadline for having these funds expired, which at the time were the Cabildo's own funds and nominated subsidies granted by the Government of the Canary Islands later, as well as an extension, requested by the previous Government team and which also expired without an agreement having been reached with Tinajo and Haría for the installation of the Clean Points", says the government group, which explains that the nominated subsidies are "subject to specific deadlines and objectives".

Funds that San Ginés "did not know, did not want or could not manage"

Thus, from the Cabildo it is stated that "in compliance with the deadlines and procedures established by law", the current presidency of the Cabildo has been "forced" to return funds that its predecessor "did not know, did not want or could not manage, as another extension of these subsidies could not be requested".

"It is incredible that it is now demanded to twist the law to meet deadlines that others allowed to expire", criticized the Minister of the Presidency, Waste and Classified Activities, Andrés Stinga. "That the opposition asks this institution to overstep its functions, says a lot about why they are now outside the institutions", he added.

For Stinga, "it is unacceptable that after twelve years in which the Canarian Coalition has not been able to agree with its own mayors, explanations are requested for not being able to resolve it in six months".

Even so, the councilor has assured that, as soon as the location of the clean points is agreed with the town councils, the financing will be requested again from the regional Executive, "given that the sustainable and efficient management of resources is one of the main priorities of the current Government team".
