The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has agreed this Thursday to grant the provisional classification and authorization to three new projects in tourist establishments in the municipality of Tías. In two of the cases, the project will be carried out in apartment complexes that intend to improve their facilities and increase their category. The other authorizes "a new rural hotel project" in the Los Lirios area.

As the Cabildo explains in a statement, the works will consist of "the renovation of a house and the conditioning of this rural-type accommodation establishment, which will have a swimming pool, 8 rooms and 18 places."

As for the apartments, both are located in Puerto del Carmen. One of them is the 'Aqua Suites', which intends to undertake a project to redecorate its accommodation units and adapt accessible itineraries in its facilities, to go from 2-key apartments to a 4-star hotel with a total of 67 units and 205 places.

Likewise, authorization has been granted for the project and provisional classification of the tourist accommodation establishment 'Apartamento Las Villas', which will go from 1 key to 4-star apartments. The project includes 11 units and 26 places and is also located in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen.

"Undoubtedly, the modernization of establishments in consolidated tourist centers contributes to the revitalization of the island's economic fabric and the creation of employment," said the president, Pedro San Ginés, who reiterated "how important it is for improving the competitiveness and quality of the destination that the business and tourism sector of the island also bets on the renovation and modernization of its facilities."
