The Plenary of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has approved this Monday, at the request of CC-PNC, an institutional declaration to propose to the Government of the Canary Islands that it award the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands to the Parranda Marinera Los Buches in its 2023 edition on the occasion of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of its constitution.
In this way, the Cabildo will also join the Arrecife City Council in the organization of an act commemorating this important event not only for the capital of Lanzarote, but for the entire island and its cultural traditions, keeping it very present in the celebration of the 2023 Carnival, as the Plenary of the capital Consistory unanimously approved on November 25, 2022.
“We must not forget that this marine band is one of the most important musical manifestations of the Archipelago, and that it has been considered by historians and experts as part of the maximum expression of the popular carnival of the islands and the most vivid testimony of the links between the men and women of Arrecife with the sea,” said CC-PNC spokesperson Samuel Martín, who expresses his satisfaction after having obtained the unanimous support of the plenary.
Likewise, the plenary session held this Monday in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has also approved another of the initiatives of the Nationalist Group, to end the problems of mobility collapse on the LZ – 20, the road axis that crosses the Argana environment.
Thus, it has been agreed that the nationalists' proposal to eliminate the curbs at the height of Viguetas Lanzarote will be studied, so that vehicles leaving Argana in the direction of the center of Arrecife or to the LZ-3 can circulate along the central axis of the LZ-20.
“With this alternative, the vehicle that comes along the road parallel to the LZ-20 and whose final destination is not the Dr. José Molina Orosa Hospital, will be able to take the central axis of the road, not collapsing the parallel road that serves as access from the center of the island to the health and emergency service,” says Samuel Martín.
