The Cabildo Plenary approved this Tuesday to allocate 33 million euros, from its treasury surpluses, to subsidies and social emergency aid, and also to works and current expenses of the Institution.
The Cabildo points out that a partida of 12.5 million euros stands out with which scholarships for students will be paid, as well as aid to sports schools and high competition athletes. In addition, they point out that the money will also be used for subsidies for travel to clubs and athletes. Finally, part of that amount will also be for subsidies for breeding animals and aid for the implementation of renewable energies and a transfer to the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society.
This amount also includes 9.5 million euros corresponding to the Municipal Cooperation Plan. “They will allow the city councils to undertake different works to improve the quality of life of the residents”, explained the president of the First Island Institution, María Dolores Corujo.
Likewise, they highlight a partida of 4,300,000 euros that will be allocated to the Social Assistance Fund, to Sports Schools, to the maintenance of the vineyard, to the agricultural and livestock sector and to the fishing sector. This block also includes a transfer of 900,000 euros to the Government of the Canary Islands, corresponding to the project to eradicate Diocalandra frumentii from the island's palm grove.
“These 16.8 million euros will allow us to speed up the implementation of projects and services that we consider strategic and the payment of aid and competitive subsidies demanded by the island's population”, says the president, who announced that the First Island Institution “is already working on the nominated subsidies corresponding to the year 2022”.
