The Arrecife City Council will propose the Hotel Lancelot for the "Tourism Distinguished" awards that the Cabildo of Lanzarote grants each year within the framework of the celebration of World Tourism Day, which is commemorated on September 27.
The proposal came from the Councilor for Tourism, Rafael Juan González Robayna, and according to the Consistory "it is justified because the Hotel Lancelot Playa was the first hotel establishment with tourist projection built in Arrecife and the second in Lanzarote." The hotel was inaugurated in 1969 and came to complement the existing accommodation offer at that time, also highlighting its location in front of the city's marina and El Reducto beach.
As Councilor Rafael Juan González highlighted, "it has been demonstrated that the Hotel Lancelot has been able to consolidate itself as an accommodation establishment that receives both Canarian, state and international tourism and that has always fought to achieve a greater and better development of the city of Arrecife, promoting employment among the local population."
In addition, the mayor added that it is "an establishment committed to collaborating selflessly and disinterestedly with different sectors such as sports, culture, charitable associations and other groups", so they consider that it is "a good candidate to obtain the Distinguished Tourism award".
