The Arrecife City Council approves a budget of 62 million euros for 2023

The Arrecife City Council has approved in the plenary session held this Wednesday a Budget for the year 2023 amounting to 62,605,091 euros. Accounts that "reflect the municipal commitment to eminently social and balanced budgets in terms of expenses and income and where the well-being of citizens is prioritized," they point out from the Council.

For Astrid Pérez, “we must continue to strengthen the protection of the most vulnerable families and social actions, while we must continue to strengthen quality municipal public services and continue to promote public investment to reactivate the local economy and employment”, she adds.

Regarding spending, "44.13% will be allocated to the provision of Basic Public Services (Collection and Treatment of MSW, Sewerage, Conservation and maintenance of public roads, Street Cleaning, Public Lighting, Urban Planning, Housing, Parks and Gardens, Cemetery and funeral services, etc.) and General Environmental administration, informs the mayor.

"Items destined for the care of the most vulnerable families, the elderly and aid for school supplies"

It should be noted that "in this year, spending on Social Services and promotion of Employment increases by 12.74% compared to the 2022 budget," therefore, "the items destined for charitable and welfare care for the most vulnerable families, the elderly in the municipality and aid for school supplies are increased."

Likewise, "economic actions such as Commerce, Tourism, SMEs and Public Transport also suffer an increase of 25.94% compared to last year," recalls Astrid.

In addition, she acknowledges that "spending on subsidies in Health, Education, Culture and Sports amounts to 1,449,500 euros." Regarding spending on economic actions, "these amount to 435,000 euros" and translate, among other actions, "into subsidies to SMEs, the tourist and commercial promotion of Arrecife, the promotion of employment and the subsidy to public transport", for "the adaptation of adapted vehicles and the modernization of the taxi service", she recalls.

"Beautification and adaptation of the beaches and improvement in parks, gardens and children's areas"

"Chapter 6 of Investments of the 2023 Budget amounts to 3,942,019.79 euros", she confirms, "where several economic items stand out for the improvement of Basic Public Services." Among other actions, "the beautification and adaptation of the municipality's beaches and the improvement in parks, gardens and children's areas are specified," she says.

Also "the construction of a fountain in the roundabout of Triana street corner Rambla Medular; the paving plan; works in the Tinasoria neighborhood and the adaptation works of the Argana Sports Palace".

Finally, Pérez assures that “this budget includes the necessary items to continue with the city Projects that began in this legislature and guarantee stability, transparency and improvement in management to advance towards the city model that we really want and deserve”.
