The Agency for the Protection of the Urban and Natural Environment (APMUN) has ordered the demolition of a single-family home located in the municipality of Teguise and has imposed a fine of 73,000 euros on its owner for having carried out this construction and for "depositing irregular materials", as published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC).

As explained by the Agency in a statement, the demolition affects the works of "a single-family home, a cistern, and constructions of buried and semi-buried rooms located in the place called "Los Ancones" of Teguise". The APMUN has indicated that the works "were carried out without the mandatory permits for their construction and on land classified as rustic".

The APMUN has also ordered the removal of the affected installation of a container, abandoned vehicles, and auxiliary construction materials. Thus, the imposed sanctions correspond to two fines, one of them of 51,500 euros for an administrative infraction committed by the execution of the works, and the second, for the amount of 21,582.9 euros, for the abandonment and deposit and installation of materials.

The APMUN has also required the interested party to submit to the Agency, within one month, the corresponding restoration or demolition project as the first step in the voluntary execution of what has been ordered. In addition, it warns that "if the requirement is not fulfilled, the restoration order will be executed subsidiarily at the expense of the offender". It has also informed the interested party that if the land is restored to its condition prior to the commission of the infraction, they will be entitled to a 90 percent reduction of the fine.

Illegal works in San Bartolomé

On the other hand, the Agency has imposed a fine of 69,743.90 euros for the execution of works in a place called Montaña de Guaticea-Montaña Blanca, in the municipality of San Bartolomé. Specifically, the APMUN imposes this fine for the construction, "without the mandatory territorial classification and urban planning license", of a structure, concrete slab and stairs, septic tank, porch, retaining and masonry walls, as well as the expansion of housing "on rustic land with landscape protection".

In this case, the APMUN also orders the restoration of the infringed legal order and informs the interested party that if the land is restored to its condition prior to the commission of the infraction, they will be entitled to a 90 percent reduction of the fine.
