The Teguise City Council, through the Grants Department coordinated by Javier Díaz and in collaboration with the different departments of the council, has opened the application period for four lines of aid aimed at strengthening the associative fabric and promoting citizen participation in the municipality. These grants are aimed at sports entities, associations linked to the field of social action, groups dedicated to environmental conservation and socio-cultural centers.

The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, stressed that "these grants are a fundamental tool to strengthen the involvement of social, cultural, sports and environmental entities in the development of the municipality."

“These entities are the ones that, with effort and vocation of service, enrich life in our towns”, she added. In addition, she insisted that “from the government group we will continue to provide the necessary resources so that Teguise and La Graciosa continue to be an example of active participation and solidarity among neighbors”.

For his part, the coordinator of the Grants Department, Javier Díaz, wanted to underline the importance of facilitating access to these grants with clear, accessible calls and aligned with the real demands of the municipality. “The effort we make from the administration to maintain these lines of support responds to the objective of supporting those who are at the service of the community from different areas of action”, he pointed out.

Likewise, from the Sports area, its head Alejandro Ramírez valued "very positively this call, highlighting the essential role played by sports clubs and associations in social revitalization, especially among the younger population." “Sport is a key tool to promote values, healthy habits and social cohesion, and these grants allow many entities to continue developing such valuable work”, he stated.

Interested entities may submit their applications from this Thursday, July 10, until July 24. All the information regarding the bases, evaluation criteria and necessary documentation is published in the National Database of Grants and in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.

More than 550,000 euros to boost the municipality

In total, the Teguise City Council will allocate more than half a million euros to this call, which includes aid for the promotion of sports, support for vulnerable groups, the protection of the environment and the revitalization of socio-cultural centers in the municipality. This is an investment that reinforces the line of work of the government group to promote an active, committed and cohesive citizenship.

The aid includes an allocation of 400,000 euros for entities, clubs, sports associations and schools of municipal interest; 55,000 euros for associations that work in the field of social action; 15,000 euros for entities linked to environmental conservation; and 80,000 euros for annual activities of socio-cultural centers spread throughout the different towns of the municipality.

"These figures reflect the council's commitment to supporting initiatives of public interest that contribute to the development and revitalization of the territory," they defend. In the coming dates, the rest of the grants budgeted for the year 2025 will be announced.
