The Teguise City Council has begun to pay the transport aid corresponding to the 2025-2026 school year, a municipal call from which will benefit more than 600 students registered in the municipality.

These grants are intended to contribute to defraying the travel expenses of students who must move outside their place of residence to pursue non-compulsory studies, such as university education, high school or vocational training cycles, provided that they meet the requirements established in the regulatory bases. For these aids, the City Council has allocated 350,000 euros, as part of its commitment to supporting education and families in the municipality.

The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted that “the payment of these aids represents a significant relief for many families in the municipality, since it allows compensating part of the economic effort they assume during the course so that their sons and daughters can continue with their education.” Likewise, she underlined that “Teguise is once again among the municipalities of Lanzarote that make these aids effective sooner, responding to families in a timely and appropriate manner.”

Duque reaffirmed his "commitment to increase the amounts of these grants for the next year academic, with the aim of continuing to strengthen financial support for families and adapting to the increase in transport costs faced by students studying outside the municipality".

For her part, the Councillor for Education, Mar Boronat, explained that “the payment of these grants culminates the work carried out during recent months to process this call with the greatest possible agility.” In this regard, she pointed out that “it has been a complex procedure due to the high number of applications, but thanks to the coordinated work of the Education area and the municipal technical staff, it has been possible to resolve and pay within the deadline.”

The beneficiaries will receive the corresponding amount by bank transfer, in accordance with the data provided during the processing of the application.

With this initiative, the Teguise City Council "continues to strengthen its commitment to education and to supporting the families of the municipality."
