The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Area of Physical Activity and Sports, managed by Councilor Juan Monzón, has opened the application period for competitive subsidies aimed at covering the travel expenses of athletes and teams from the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa who participate in official competitions of an autonomous, national, or international scope during the 2024/2025 season.
This line of aid, endowed with a budget of 350,000 euros, aims to support the participation of Lanzarote athletes in competitions outside the island, helping to reduce the costs derived from travel and ensuring that local sports talent can develop on equal terms with the rest of the archipelago and the country.
Clubs and sports organizations registered in the Register of Sports Entities of the Canary Islands that participate in official competitions outside of Lanzarote and La Graciosa may benefit from this call—provided that their Federation has not signed a travel protocol with the Government of the Canary Islands—, as well as individual athletes residing on the islands who compete on their own behalf in official events included in the calendars of the corresponding federations.
"The Cabildo of Lanzarote maintains its firm commitment to the island's athletes and clubs. We know the effort it takes to compete outside our territory, and that is why, year after year, we work to ensure that no talent is left behind for economic reasons," said the Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón. "These grants are an essential tool to support the projection of Lanzarote's sport inside and outside the Canary Islands," he added.
The deadline for submitting applications will remain open from this Monday until Friday, November 14, 2025, and the complete terms and conditions, as well as the necessary documentation, can be consulted on the electronic site of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
